BaRupOn LLC is seeking an experienced Thermal-Hydraulics / Safety Analysis Lead to manage the thermal-hydraulic modeling, reactor safety analysis, and related licensing activities for our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) and Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) programs. This is a senior leadership role within our engineering team, responsible for ensuring the safety and efficiency of our reactor designs through comprehensive thermal-hydraulic and safety analysis.
The ideal candidate will lead the development, validation, and maintenance of thermal-hydraulic models using system-level codes such as RELAP5, TRACE, and STAR-CCM+. They will perform accident and transient analyses, ensuring compliance with NRC regulations (10 CFR Part 50 and Part 52), and evaluate safety margins for a range of operating and postulated accident conditions.
This role requires a deep understanding of nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulics, a strong command of U.S. nuclear regulatory frameworks, and the ability to lead a growing team of engineers. The Thermal-Hydraulics Lead will work closely with reactor physicists, mechanical engineers, and the licensing team to integrate safety and thermal-hydraulic analysis into reactor designs.
Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing safety analysis reports (SAR/FSAR) and other regulatory documentation, responding to NRC requests for additional information, and supporting probabilistic risk assessments (PRA) and uncertainty quantification studies. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration, working with project management to identify technical risks and resource needs tied to safety analysis milestones.
In addition, the Thermal-Hydraulics Lead will mentor junior and mid-level engineers, establishing and maintaining team methodologies and code validation protocols. Representing BaRupOn in technical forums and industry collaborations, this role offers an opportunity to influence the future of advanced nuclear energy and safety analysis.
Candidates should have a Master’s or PhD in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, with 7+ years of experience in thermal-hydraulics and safety analysis. Experience with system-level thermal-hydraulic codes and a strong understanding of NRC regulatory requirements are essential. Preferred qualifications include a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) certification, experience with advanced reactor concepts such as SMRs or molten salt reactors, and familiarity with PRA, uncertainty quantification, and V&V processes.
At BaRupOn LLC, you will take ownership of safety analysis for one of the most ambitious SMR/MMR programs in the U.S. This is a chance to work with top engineers and federal partners at the forefront of advanced nuclear energy, with competitive compensation and potential equity participation tied to program milestones.
BaRupOn LLC is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
