BaRupOn LLC is looking for an experienced Nuclear Safety & PRA Lead to manage all probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), safety analysis, and risk-informed regulatory compliance activities for our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) and Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) programs. This senior leadership role is crucial to BaRupOn’s nuclear safety team, overseeing the development and application of full-scope PRA models and conducting deterministic safety analysis for reactor systems.
In this role, you’ll ensure safety principles are embedded throughout reactor design and operational planning, working closely with engineering, licensing, and operations teams. The Nuclear Safety & PRA Lead will be responsible for managing PRA models, analyzing safety margins, and ensuring compliance with NRC regulations (10 CFR Part 50, 52, and 53). You will also prepare safety analysis reports (SAR/FSAR) and PRA submittals for NRC review and respond to requests for information (RAIs) on safety analysis and PRA matters.
The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on PRA and nuclear safety experience with advanced or light-water reactor systems and a strong understanding of NRC’s risk-informed regulatory frameworks. You’ll lead a team of engineers, mentor junior engineers and PRA analysts, and represent BaRupOn in technical forums, industry groups, and NRC collaborations.
The role also involves evaluating vendor designs, managing engineering risks, and aligning engineering milestones with regulatory timelines. As part of the executive leadership team, you will drive technical decisions and ensure safety is prioritized at every stage of development.
To be successful, you should have a Master’s or PhD in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, with 10+ years of experience in nuclear safety and PRA. Proficiency in PRA software (e.g., SAPHIRE, RiskSpectrum) and a deep understanding of NRC regulations are essential. Preferred qualifications include a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) certification, experience with severe accident analysis tools, and a track record of leadership in nuclear regulatory environments.
At BaRupOn LLC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the safety and risk analysis strategy for one of the most ambitious SMR/MMR programs in the U.S. We offer competitive compensation, benefits, and the chance to collaborate with leading experts at the forefront of nuclear energy. BaRupOn
